Cellucor Super HD Review: What You Need to Know

If you frequent your local gym or are a personal trainer, I’m sure you have heard of the popular brand, Cellucor. Super HD is Cellucor’s elite, designated fat burner marketed to help you lose weight while you gain lean muscle mass.

To encourage weight loss, the Super HD contains a unique appetite-suppressing formula, SlimPro. The efficacy of this formula is questionable and needs more research outside of its possible correlation with insulin regulation.

I tested the Super HD to see if it actually worked, and I also researched the science behind it by studying the safety of ingredients, convenience, and whether or not it would be a worthwhile purchase for you.

It’s about look and feel. SuperHD uses a unique formula, to help you feel super and see yourself in high definition (HD).

1. What Is It: A Closer Look at Cellucor Super HD

Cellucor Super HD is a “high-def[inition] fat targeting and sculpting agent.” It includes:

• Green Tea
• B-vitamins (B12, Niacin, B6)
• Dandelion root extract
• N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine
• Rhodiola root extract
• Various fruit extracts
• Caffeine
• Protein hydrolysates of Blue Whiting

The instructions state to take 2-3 pills per day depending upon tolerance. After you take them, Cellucor claims that you will experience a boost in physical and mental energy, concentration, memory, fat loss, increased metabolism and suppressed appetite throughout the day.

2. History of the Brand: How Did Cellucor Super HD start?

According to their site, Cellucor Super HD was released in 2013

So, we set out to create a range of products that were super easy, super healthy and designed to help our babes get back on track, and stay on track.”

Sounds like a nice enough story.

But after a little digging, here’s the only detailed story I could find…

Since being founded in 2013 by an Australian company called Nomad Choice PTY LTD, Flat Tummy Tea has grown rapidly, and has built a targeted social media following of over 1,270,000.

Flat Tummy Tea was bought in 2015 by Synergy CHC Corp, a publically traded company who owns numerous other health & beauty products.

Now, being owned by a publicly traded corporation doesn’t necessarily mean the tea isn’t good or doesn’t work. So let’s start by taking a closer look at their products.

3. Types of products

In addition to their tea, the company has Flat Tummy meal replacement shakes to help you lose weight, and Flat Tummy lollipops—grape, watermelon, yellow apple, and berry—designed to suppress your appetite.

The lollipops contain an ingredient call Satiereal, a plant extract, which is claimed to maximize satiety. Translation: they make you not hungry.

The Flat Tummy Shakes supposedly contain the equivalent of 50 fruits & veggies, 22 vitamins & minerals, 20 grams of plant protein, and Super Citrimax (a.k.a. Hydroxycritic acid), which is rumored—not proven—to aid weight loss.

All that being said, none of these products or their claims are FDA approved, which means they should be consumed at your own risk, and with caution.

The company says they’ve designed their tea for anyone who wants to cleanse or de-bloat their system, drop some stubborn pounds, improve digestion, and increase their energy.

Or as they put it on their website, “anyone who wants to kick that bloated, bluggish, blaaaah feeling.”

According to the company, after the first few days on the tea users will feel a boost of energy, and should also notice a decrease in bloating.

Over the course of the program users are supposed to experience:

• A strengthened immune system
• A cleansed and improved digestive system
• And of course, weight loss

After the initial 2 – 4 week program, they claim that the Maintain Tea will sustain the user’s flat stomach they’re ready to do the next 4 week to cleanse package.

Take one serving (1 capsule) with 8-12 fl. oz. of water in the morning, and one serving (1 capsule) with 8-12 fl. oz. of water 5-6 hours later in the mid-afternoon.

The Flat Tummy Tea program has two stages.

First you do the Activate Stage, essentially you’re conditioning your digestive system to absorb more nutrients while speeding up your metabolism in order to make digestion quicker.

You’ll take the Activate Packet, and roughly 8oz of hot water in a cup. You mix 1 teaspoon of the packet in a tea strainer, let it sit and infuse for 5 – 7 minutes’ish, then remove the strainer and drink.

With over 3,000 positive reviews on their official website, and no shortage of celebrities endorsing this product, they’ve got quite a bit of hype behind them.

But that’s where the hype train ends.

The Flat Tummy Tea doesn’t burn fat like you might be thinking. Its main function is getting rid of any excess water.

In addition, while dandelion supposedly helps to cut down on fat absorption, there were suggestions that dandelions can also act as a diuretic and laxative.

It has cleaver’s leaf, which makes you pee more, and while that does result in less fluid retention, it’s not necessarily fat that you’re getting rid of.

To sum up, this tea certainly can cause you to lose weight, but to be clear, it’s not because it’s melting fat off your body. The weight loss is due to a lack of fluids in your system.

The tea probably shouldn’t be used as your only source of weight loss.

It’s still important to eat healthy, and of course exercise, in order to keep your body fat low. Otherwise the negligible results you get from draining excess fluids will be barely noticeable, and definitely short-lived.

13. Our Testing and Results: Flat Tummy Tea Benefits, Testing and Results

If I’m keeping it real…Flat Tummy Tea doesn’t perform as well as it suggests.

I’ve got to point out, the vast majority of the ingredients have very little research into the effects they might have on weight loss. It’s simply too soon to know.

Some of the ingredients have had a small amount of clinical support to back up their efficacy. But not much, and none of it’s extensive.

For instance, according to some research, peppermint is said to improve your exercising performance, causing you to expend more calories during a workout. And some reports show that lemon balm speeds up the body’s ability to digest fats.

Examples like these could speed up your metabolism during workouts, but that’s not going to be as noticeable—if at all—as the decreased fluid retention results.

The company’s shakes are used as meal replacements, the lollipops are used as appetite suppressants, and it appears that their tea is just used as an additional supplement to help get overall results.

I should also point out that on the company site they do, rightfully so, point out that to get any real and long-lasting results, customers should eat better, eat less, and exercise more.

But don’t get me wrong!

For a detoxifying tea, this product does help with fluid retention, which is a very real part of weight loss. But it isn’t a fat burner, or a carb blocker, and it’s certainly not a magic solution.

As far as taste goes…

I thought it had a natural, sweet taste, sort of similar to green tea. I even added a slice of lemon to spruce it up. Some customers said they added a little honey to further enhance the sweetness.

While their website has mainly positive customer feedback, a lot of online reviews have indicated that the product simply does not work and will result in frequent toilet trips without losing much weight.

What I take away from the plethora of varying reviews is that it probably can work…with proper diet and exercise.

Or more likely, proper diet and exercise work…and the tea helps suck out any additional fluids.

Since the tea mainly contains natural ingredients, you aren’t too likely to experience many issues, as you might by using other synthetic products.

On the company’s website they warn that users might feel dehydrated, and recommend that you drink more water to make up for any fluids lost.

Also, go ahead and plan on frequent trips to the bathroom. This is due to the senna leaf, which as mentioned before acts as a laxative. A pretty good one.

The disclaimer on the Flat Tummy Tea website they mention that: “This product is not meant to diagnose, treat or prevent any diseases.” And they also throw in that: “The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as not evaluated the product, and therefore it should be taken with caution.”

A note to contraceptive pill users: because of the detoxifying nature, you could experience some issues, according to the company, however they don’t go into any detail about what those issues might be.

They also recommend against using the product if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. I’m not exactly sure why, after all it’s 100% natural. But I’d take their word for it.

And as is always the rule with supplements, anyone under 18 should consult their parents before using the product.

23. Verdict: Would I Recommend Flat Tummy Tea?

As much as I want to help you find the solution you’re looking for, for a flatter tummy, I don’t think I can give this one a solid endorsement.

Why not?

Because I feel that using diuretics, and especially laxatives, as a weight loss method, can have some weird side effects, and potentially cause issues.

If you’re absolutely adamant about giving it a try, I get it. To be fair, there are tons of positive reviews on their site, and there’ve been countless celebrities swearing by this tea. And while they don’t offer a free trial that I’m aware of, or a money back guarantee, there is a 20% sale on their site.

Just don’t set your hopes unrealistically high, is all I’m saying.

If you’re ready to shed a few, and you’re looking for a supplement to help, it’s always a good idea to seek one that has clinical research backing it up. And, in my opinion, one with less intense side effects.
