Nugenix is a supplement that claims to boost testosterone, thereby increasing libido, stamina, and exercise performance, while also helping to build more muscle mass. Since it is one of many supplements on the market today making those claims, I decided to give it a shot to see if it lives up to the hype.

But, I took it one step further to delve into the ingredients, the science behind them, the company that makes Nugenix, and what others had to say about it. What you see here is the result of my research.

I must warn you – my Nugenix review may shock you.

1. What Is It: A Closer Look at Nugenix

Nugenix is a supplement made with natural ingredients, that promises to help increase testosterone levels without actually giving you hormone replacement therapy. It’s a supplement you take every day. You’re supposed to feel more energy, have a better sex drive, get more exercise done than before, and build more muscle mass. It’s supposed to help men address the natural testosterone decline associated with age.

2. History of the Brand: How Did Nugenix Start?

Nugenix is made by Adaptive Health – one of the major players in health and wellness supplements. The company was previously known as Direct Digital but rebranded in 2018 after acquiring Healthy Directions in December 2017.

According to Adaptive Health, the supplement company was founded in 1993, and their first “doctor-developed” formula launched. They don’t say what formula this was, or when they started producing the Nugenix brand. Direct Digital, the company that is now Adaptive Health after merging with Healthy Direction, appears to have been founded in 2009.

You can get a free trial directly from the manufacturer, or buy it at various retailers online and off.

3. Types of products
Bodybuilding

Testosterone helps increase muscle mass when bodybuilding.

In addition to their free testosterone booster I’m covering in this review, the company also has other supplements. These products include:

  • Prostate Health Support – a dietary supplement designed to promote a healthy prostate
  • Estro-Regulator – a dietary supplement that helps regulate estrogen in the male body. The company recommends this to be stacked with the Free Testosterone Booster for even better results.
  • PM-ZMA – a dietary supplement that is a nighttime testosterone booster
  • Nugenix Ultimate – “complex free testosterone formula to be taken only as directed for people who are looking for serious testosterone support in their lifestyle and in the gym.”
  • Multivitamin – a super-concentrated formula with 19 high-potency vitamins and minerals that meet or exceed the recommended daily value. This claims to provide a “solid foundation” for the rest of the Nugenix products. You can stack it to enhance your overall results.
  • Cellular Energy – a dietary supplement designed to give you sustained energy all day long while supporting your muscle growth.
4. Nugenix Ingredients

The testosterone booster contains:

  • Testofen – This is a patented form of fenugreek. Fenugreek is a natural herb that’s thought to help increase testosterone levels. One small-scale clinical trial showed that total serum testosterone and free testosterone increased compared to those in the placebo group after 12 weeks of treatment. However, the study used 600 mg of Testofen a day. Because it’s part of a proprietary blend, I can’t tell you if that’s how much you get.
  • L-Citrulline Malate – This is an amino acid. When combined with Testofen, it helps increase blood flow, which improves erections. The amino acid also helps the body produce nitric oxide, which is responsible for blood vessel expansion.
  • Tribulus  – This is a plant that’s used to treat a variety of conditions, such as enlarged prostate, chest pain, eczema, infertility, sexual disorders, and more. It’s thought to work because it contains chemicals that may increase levels of some hormones. However, there is little evidence to suggest that it raises testosterone in humans.
  • Vitamins B6 and B12 – These B vitamins help increase red blood cell production. They help increase energy to fight fatigue and support the nervous system.
  • Zinc – This mineral plays a role in cell repair and DNA production. It’s also included because zinc deficiencies are linked to lower testosterone levels.
5. Where is it manufactured?

Nugenix is manufactured and distributed out of their corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.

6. Who’s Nugenix For?

Testosterone boosters like this are meant for men who are dealing with a natural decline in testosterone with age, and for those who want to increase their muscle mass and stamina.

7. How Does Nugenix Work?
Testosterone and libido

Testosterone plays a role in libido. If you notice a decreased sex drive, low testosterone may be to blame.

The product works by providing the body with ingredients that are supposed to help naturally increase free testosterone in the body.

8. Does Nugenix Work?

While many of the ingredients in the formula are in fact associated with an increase in testosterone, there are many people who say the product did not work for them. One review even said they had levels tested prior to using the supplement, and again after using the supplement as directed for 90 days, only to find no change in hormone levels.

9. Nugenix Benefits and Results
bald man

Natural declines in testosterone levels with age can lead to balding.

Those taking Nugenix should see an increase in libido, endurance, exercise performance, and muscle mass.

10As far as taste goes…

Because this is a capsule and not a powder, drink, or food, you don’t have to worry about taste.

11. Nugenix Side Effects

While the Nugenix website doesn’t list any side effects, L-Citrulline can cause lower blood pressure. If you’re on medication to treat high blood pressure, this can interact and cause your blood pressure to drop too low.

Testofen may cause blood thinning, which is an issue for those who are taking prescription blood thinners. Because of this, it may also slow blood clotting, which is an issue for those with bleeding disorders. Testofen may also lower blood sugar, which could cause sugar levels to drop too low if you’re on medication for diabetes.

Some reviews mentioned stomach pain and issues, as well as an increase in blood pressure. This is why it is important to talk with your doctor before starting Nugenix.

12. Nugenix Product Warnings

This product is not for children under the age of 18, for women, or for men with any kind of medical condition. Speak to your doctor or other health professionals before starting this supplement to make sure you are healthy enough to use it.

13. Any Nugenix Lawsuits?

There is no lawsuit against Nugenix specifically, but many brands that use Testofen have been involved in a class-action lawsuit alleging that Testofen supplements do not actually boost testosterone levels.

14. Customer Reviews on the Web: What Users Are Saying

“Did not work for me had blood work before and took for 3 months had blood work done again no change.” – Sonny Brewer

“Seems to work just fine. My stamina is much improved, I feel better. Can’t complain.” – Bill S.

“Not worth it. At first, you will notice a boost in energy but like most products that boost goes away because your body adjusts to the chemicals. Not a permanent solution.” – Luke

15. Nugenix Competitors

Nugenix competitors include:

  • Spartagen XT
  • Testo-Max
  • TestoGen
16. Would Nugenix Work with Your Diet?

Nugenix should work with any diet, except vegetarian and vegan, because of gelatin present in the capsule.

17. Verdict: Would I Recommend Nugenix?

I personally don’t feel like I can recommend this product. Nugenix didn’t appear to make any difference in how I felt. With the mixed reviews and the class action lawsuit against supplements that contain Testofen, I am not confident enough to make a recommendation.

If you’d still like to try their products, you can take advantage of a 14-day free trial offered directly from the manufacturer. You’ll pay $4.99 for shipping and handling. Remember, if you don’t cancel before the trial’s up, you’ll automatically be billed and receive another bottle.

It’s important to have realistic expectations whenever you try a supplement. Get as much information as you can before you start it, and talk with your doctor to be sure it’s a good idea.

Nugenix can be purchased through Amazon or using their Official Site.
